Navigating the first trimester (Changes + Exercise)
The first trimester of pregnancy can be challenging, especially if you’re trying to maintain your exercise routine. In today’s blog you will learn about some of the changes you may experience during this trimester, with goals to focus on.
During your first trimester of pregnancy you may feel:
Fatigue
A shift in food preferences
Morning sickness
All of the above can have an impact on your activity level. Some people may not be able to get out of bed, while others may feel completely fine. Remember that how your body responds to pregnancy may be different than others and that is okay.
If you’re feeling good to continue or begin exercising, here are some steps that you can begin to take.
Get clearance from your doctor to participate in an exercise routine.
Focus on deep core exercises (breath work, pelvic floor etc). Check out this blog or my prenatal fitness guide to learn more.
Start/maintain some level of activity. If you’re having a hard time committing to longer workouts, aim for 5-10 minutes of movement a day. Getting into the habit of moving your body (even for 10 minutes) will help you as you progress through your pregnancy.
